Peterborough 2 Luton Town 0

Took Danny to this F A Cup game at Peterborough. The only surprise to this result was that we did not lose 8-0. Peterborough from the league above us were far superior. They are at the present time the highest scoring team in the top four divisions and but for Mark Tyler’s goalkeeping would have won by a far more convincing scoreline. But we did hit the post at 1-0 and I was beginning to think we might have got a undeserved draw until the second goal was scored.

Norfolk

A trip to Norfolk starting at Snettisham to look for the Pallid Harrier. Unfortunately I did not see it although it had been seen before I got there and then after I left.  The weather had deteriorated whilst I was there getting much windier and colder as the day progressed. I then went to Thornham Harbour where there was a flock of Twite including some that were colour ringed and then Titchwell RSPB.

Stevenage 0 Luton Town 0

A short journey for this away trip. A game we should have won in my unbiased opinion. We did hit the bar twice! and have a player sent off.  My brother had booked a box for this game, which was nice and we had a meal before the game. The taxis we had booked both ways did not turn up after the game. Don’t bother booking the 69’ers Taxis from Dunstable/Luton unless you want to be stranded somewhere. Their phone number is 01582 696969 -Delete it from your contacts now!

Scilly 2015

I went on the seabird and dolphin trip this morning. The first birds seen were 2 Great Northern Divers and a Spoonbill. We then went to Gimble Porth on Tresco where we has distant views of the Hudsonian Whimbrel found there yesterday. We saw Buzzard, Hen Harrier, Peregrine and Kestrel as we made our way out to Sea.  Other interesting sightings were the Life boat and rescue helicopters on a mission looking for a boat that had sent a “mayday” message. There was a brief sighting of a Minke Whale and some Harbour Porpoise. We were lucky to finish the 3 hour trip with possibly 100’s of Common Dolphin which were great to see as they were all around the boat. In the afternoon I went up to Content to see if I could get any better pictures of the Siberian Stonechat and on the way managed a few photos of a Firecrest.

Scilly 2015

A trip over to Bryher today on a lovely sunny day. A Red-breasted Flycatcher was seen on Samson Hill and the resident Hooded Crow also flew past. A ringtail Hen Harrier was seen distantly over Tresco from Bryher as was an Osprey. Once I had got back to St Mary’s there was just enough time for a quick cup of tea before a quick walk was required up to Pungies Lane/Content to see a Siberian Stonechat in fading light.
