1 4/5/2016 First visit of the day was to Abberton Reservoir where I saw a Franklins Gull and a very showy Nightingale. The second destination was Vange Marsh RSPB, Basildon where I saw a female Red-footed Falcon.

Little Paxton Gravel Pits is one of the best place to see Nightingales. They can be easy to hear but a lot harder to see. It took a while but eventually one came out in the open for a few seconds. Another difficult bird to see but easy to hear is Cetti’s Warbler. Here is a rather poor picture of one from today at Marston Vale Country Park. I also managed a few shots of Common Whitethroat here.

Little Paxton Nature Reserve must be one of the best places to see Nightingales in England. At least two performed very well this morning often singing right out in the open. Click on the links for video of one singing.
