A mainly grey and quite cold day at Dungeness. Best birds were Glaucous and Caspian Gulls, pair of Smew, Black-throated Diver, Tree Sparrows and Great White Egret. There were 1000’s of Guillemots, 100’s of Great-crested Grebes and quite a few Red-throated Divers offshore of the fishing boats.
Great White Egret
7/1/2016 A trip to Dungeness on a dull day. Highlights :- Stejnegers Stonechat ( try pronouncing that one! ), Long-eared Owl, Ring-necked Duck and a Red-necked Grebe at nearby Camber Sands.
Highlights of the trip were Long-eared Owl, Caspian Gull and Smew.
Great Black-backed Gull
26/10/2013 – A trip to Kent to try and see the Two Barred and Parrot Crossbills at Hemsted Forest 3 miles East of Cranbrook. In dull and fairly windy conditions I managed to see the Two Barred Crossbill after a couple of hours wait. No Parrot Crossbills were seen. We then went to Dungeness which is always an interesting if slightly weird place to visit.
