A day of pipits. Went for another look at the Blyth’s Pipit early morning, finally caught up with the Red-throated Pipit early afternoon and finished the day with a Richard’s Pipit. Also had excellent views of 5 Jack Snipe at Lower Moors.

Not a bad day on St Mary’s. Started the day on the Garrison and saw 4 Firecrest and a Yellow-browed Warbler. Went for a wander for the rest of the day and saw Short-toed Lark at the turning circle on the airport and a Snow Bunting nearby and then finished the day with Short-eared Owl and Blyth’s Pipit on Peninnis Head.

Scilly pelagic highlights were Sooty Shearwater, Pomarine Skua, several Bonxies, Minke Whale, Common Dolphin, Basking Shark and Harbour Porpoise.

Monday and Tuesday were mainly wet and windy. Not great for photos and not many birds seen.

A very sunny, warm and calm crossing to Scilly on Saturday. Lots of dolphin were seen from the Scillonian and a couple of Balearic Shearwater. There was a Red-throated Diver in Porthcressa Bay. I got the boat to St Agnes at 2pm but the Red Eyed Vireo was not seen. A Pied Flycatcher was probably the best bird seen over there. Sunday was a completely different day weather wise, as it was cloudy, windy and quite a bit colder. I stayed on St Mary’s where I saw Lapland Bunting, Pectoral Sandpiper, Jack Snipe, Merlin and Peregrine.

There has been an Osprey at Weston Turville Reservoir for about 10 days. I had never been to this reservoir before so thought it was worth a visit.
A few pictures I took of the Barred Warbler at Staines Moor on 6/9/2015.
A visit to Willow Tree Fen LWT to see the Red Footed Falcon. When I arrived it was showing very well, perched and hunting from fence posts next to the entrance track.
