21/06/2012 An early start for a trip to Ashdown Forest in Sussex for the Short Toed Eagle that has been present there for a week.Seen as a dot in a tree to start with, it was eventually seen very well over the next few hours.

A nice morning in Norfolk at Burnham Overy Staithe to see the Spectacled Warbler that has been present for a few days. Seen very well singing and displaying.

Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham, Devon was the destination on the last day of May to see a first summer Ross’s Gull. It was very distant when first seen on the Estuary but was seen a little bit closer later in the day from the hide. I never managed to get a good picture as it was always too distant. We also went to Labrador Bay to see Cirl Bunting’s, Aylesbeare Common for Nightjar and Dawlish Warren where I managed to take a picture of a Green Woodpecker.

25/5/2014 Nice day in the New Forest followed by a walk down Hurst Point to the lighthouse and Castle. Some good birds seen in the New Forest included Wood Warbler, Goshawk, 2 Hawfinch, Woodcock and Dartford Warbler.

Went to Marston Vale Country Park this morning. Found a Black Tern on the Pillinge and heard a couple of Turtle Doves nearby and managed to see and photograph one of them.
