Luton won convincingly away at Gillingham with a final score of Gillingham 1 Luton Town 3. The away end at Gillingham is made out of scaffolding and has no roof but luckily the forecast for heavy rain did not materialise. We then went to Alexandra Palace to see Slaves after the match. A good day out.

I went to Norfolk to see this this bird at Salthouse on 27/10/2018. It was widely thought to be a Stejneger’s Stonechat and a poo sample had been collected for DNA testing. The results have now been published and it is a Stejneger’s. Not sure how you pronounce it however!

A great day out in Norfolk until heavy rain in the afternoon. I had gone to see the probable Stejneger’s Stonechat at Salthouse but decided to go for a seawatch at Cley first which was a good decision as there were lots of birds passing in the strong north westerly winds. Highlights were 2 Little Auk, juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 6 Pomarine Skua including one that landed on the beach and Long-eared Owl that flew in-off. There were lots of duck moving offshore, mainly Teal, Wigeon and Common Scoter but I also saw Pintail and a few Goldeneye. Two Snow Bunting flew past.
Then on to Salthouse where I eventually saw the possible Stejneger’s Stonechat well when it flew closer having originally been quite distant.
