Maybe not a classic year but still some good birds and I did get the Catbird on the way home. Great that Danny and Michael came out for a few days.

Having been on Scilly when the Grey Catbird was found at Treeve Moor near Lands End I had to hope it stayed until I left the Islands. Fortunately it did and after a mad dash after getting off the Scillonian on Saturday evening I managed to see it briefly in flight, before it got completely dark. Luckily it was still there on the Sunday when i was able to see it much better.

I saw a whale today in the River Thames at Gravesend! A Beluga Whale that is normally found in arctic waters. It was over the far side of the river and would only surface every 5-10 minutes and for a short period of time so my photos are not very good.

A trip to the Oare Marshes reserve to see the returning adult Bonapartes Gull and my first Turtle Dove of the year .Turtle Doves are getting harder to find each year when they were once quite common.

The Isle of Mull is a great place to see eagles. On the first day I have seen this White-tailed Eagle and two Golden Eagles.

On the journey up to Oban I decided to head over Musselburgh with the hope of seeing the American White-winged Scoter. It was good day to do so, as there were fairly light winds and it was nice and sunny. After only about 20 minutes I managed to spot it fairly distantly off shore from Musselburgh lagoons. Pleased to have even got these poor record shots.

What was looking to be a hard game turned into an easy victory. Yeovil had beaten Coventry City 6-2 in their previous game away from home but we took an early lead in this game and were the better team from the outset. Yeovil then conceded a penalty that resulted in a dismissal for one of their players. Danny Hylton scored the penalty and it was still in the first half when Yeovil had their second player sent off. The second half was mainly a non event with Luton keeping the ball and running the clock down without taking any risks, a professional performance. We then had a night in Weymouth – a good weekend.
