Great day in Norfolk. Best bird was the Pallid Harrier seen at Roydon Common late afternoon, my 4th attempt to see this bird. Also saw the Golden Pheasant at Wolferton, Water Rail and 3 Shorelark at Titchwell and the Ferruginous Duck at Holkham. The dead Sperm Whale was still at Old Hunstanton.
First stop was Brockworth near Gloucester where I saw the two Penduline Tits at the Horsbere Flood Alleviation Pool. Slimbridge WWT was the next stop where there were 1000’s of birds including Bewick Swans, White-fronted Geese, 100’s of Pintail, 2 Scaup and many other wintering wildfowl.
A crap photo of Jupiter and 3 of its Moons which was easily visible near our Moon in the night sky this week.
A quick visit to Scarborough to see the 2 Black-necked Grebes. There was also a Shag here and a nice sunset.
23/1/2016 Danny’s Graduation Day at the University of York.
I went to Fen Drayton hoping to see the Serin’s that have been there recently but unfortunately did not see them. There was a Short-eared Owl there however which was nice to see. I also managed to photograph a Goldcrest. I then went to Welney and saw both Whooper and Bewick Swans.

A Bonaparte’s Gull at Wilstone Reservoir which I did not manage to photograph and a Slavonian Grebe.
Highlights of the trip were Long-eared Owl, Caspian Gull and Smew.

Managed to dip the Pallid Harrier for the third time. Other than that not a bad day. Highlights were 3 Shore Lark, 2 Water Pipit and Rough-legged Buzzard.
